"Man! This is awesome! It's about time they did something about the wheel, you know... I always thought that it was primitive to put air in a wheel in the first place! This is going to save lots of time and money!"
(Jose 1/20/2005 5:42:05 AM)
"Wasn't "Tweel" the name of the alien in Stanley G. Weinbaum's "A Martian Odessey"? Not at all wheel-like, though. It would be far too cool if he were, wouldn't it?"

"I can remember a similar airless wheel built years ago in Sweden (Volvo? Saab?). The spring medium was transverse U shaped fiberglass beams (imagine a U on it's side, bottom on the road, top on the wheel hub) designed to deflect evenly across the tread. Their appearance was similar to a multi spoked (say 20) wheel with a 0 aspect tire (Just a shear band with a tread). It may have been on a show car but it was tested. I think that I saw a report on it in a magazine about Materials Development or similar."

"Hi. I live in northern Canada and I am afraid that at minus 15 F if you drove over a bump those spokes would shatter."

(tham 4/21/2006 8:18:48 PM)
"What do you replace when the tread is gone? The whole wheel? What is the projected cot?"
( 5/27/2006 7:40:01 PM)
"Where can I find a video demo of the Audi A4 with tweel. carnold@norcomazda.com"
(Charlie 7/27/2006 1:51:34 PM)
"Being from up north eh, snow and slut in the spokes would cause quite the havoc:/"
(Matty P 8/20/2006 7:15:13 PM)
