Comments on Calling Google's RoboTaxi
'The taxi utilized sophisticated electronic sensors to perceive its surroundings...'- Allan Dean Foster, 2006. (Read
the complete story)
"Dialing in a number or address is so 1950's. The only way to get around in a Google robocab is to TELL it."
( 8/25/2013 11:05:26 AM) |
| "Hmm, I wonder if I could think of a good partner for Google. Technologically advanced, future-oriented, located in Northern California?
(Tesla Model S, according to Motor Trend)
"

"You know, believe it or not, there are some people who really DO drive for the enjoyment alone. Especially the outdoorsy types.(I have the feeling a lot of folks here are biased by virtue of being tech geeks) We wouldn't want the vehicle driving for us anymore than we'd want someone to feed us our meals so Zetsche's approach isn't all that unreasonable. Just let the driver choose exactly when they want control or not."

"Yup, I do know. Ideally, I'd like to have a Tesla Model S with fully autonomous capabilities that could be engaged when I want to take a nap, or just rest, especially on long drives. There was a nice long section of the turnpike that leads into New York from Pennsylvania, with long sweeping mountain turns, that I'd love to take at about 85 with a Model S. I haven't totally lost my enjoyment of driving, but lots of it is a chore."
(Bill Christensen 8/25/2013 3:13:11 PM) |
"Johnny Cab in Total Recall"
(Peter Jacobs 8/25/2013 6:49:12 PM) |
| "Johnny Cab was kind of retro, but so was that whole movie.
"
