Comments on Maya Hotel Floating Pyramid Island In Caribbean Sea
I think I've read about this one before; it would be nice to have a hotel you could move. (Read
the complete story)
"That might be the earliest incarnation of the subject but I think the most familiar to younger SF fans would be the moving hotel, Fhloston Paradise, from the Fifth Element."

"I'm surprised no one has mentioned the material as well as the hotel. Surely there are plenty of scifi references to 'plascrete' and analogous fictional construction materials? I'm thinking of Keith Laumer (durachrome used on the Bolo superheavy tanks), Frank Herbert (plasteel), Harry Harrison (plascrete, I think), and I'm sure there are others.
Oh, I just found this:

"I snagged this pic of the Fhloston Paradise hotel.

"I am an interior architecture student at The University of Teesside in my final year, and I have started my major project and I am really excited.
I am designing and developing a floating hotel within a luxurious part of the world. I am very interested and motivated, and I am acquiring any form of information or advice. I wish to know all that there is in this range of design and also receive any mentoring.
I am exploring the market of floating hotels, cruise ships and innovative architecture and design.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and used. I wish to push my degree further and succeed as a designer.
"
