LuminAR Bulb And Robot Lamp Frees Trapped Pixels
The amazing LuminAR bulb and robotic lamp is shown in the video below by its inventor, MIT student Natan Linder. It's short and to the point, describing his idea of a computer-driven projector that has a standard light bulb power plug. Free your pixels! and put them anywhere you want.

LuminAR reinvents the traditional incandescent bulb and desk lamp, evolving them into a new category of robotic, digital information devices. The LuminAR Bulb combines a Pico-projector, camera, and wireless computer in a compact form factor. This self-contained system enables users with just-in-time projected information and a gestural user interface, and it can be screwed into standard light fixtures everywhere. The LuminAR Lamp is an articulated robotic arm, designed to interface with the LuminAR Bulb. Both LuminAR form factors dynamically augment their environments with media and information, while seamlessly connecting with laptops, mobile phones, and other electronic devices. LuminAR transforms surfaces and objects into interactive spaces that blend digital media and information with the physical space.
Linder's vision was supported by Intel and Microvision.
I don't have a very good reference for this idea in science fiction, although it seems to the very stuff of sf itself. The telescreen in Orwell's 1984 could both collect information and project it, which is similar to the LuminAR, but not a very good match. Anyone?
