Monsieur Bartending Robot
Monsieur is an artificially intelligent robotic bartender; use a touchscreen to order. The Monsieur robot learns about your preferences so it can make recommendations, like a real bartender. (In case you're wondering, there are other robotic bartenders.)
Monsieur Explainer Video from Monsieur on Vimeo.
Monsieur has a touchscreen user interface that is powered by Android and connected to a microcontroller that orchestrates thermoelectric coolers, peristaltic pumps, sensors, and other mechanical components to deliver precision mixology.
Monsieur can interface with your home automation networks via WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, or Zigbee to determine who is home and connect to users. Monsieur is connected to our cloud-based servers in order to receive new cocktail updates and theme packages and get recommendations from Monsieur peer network.
In his 1943 story Q.U.R, sf great Anthony Boucher writes about a usuform robot bartender, a robotic device optimized for the task:
There sat the first original Quinby usuform - no remake of a Robinc model, but a brand-new creation. Quniby said, "Three Planets," and he [the robot] went into action. He had tentacles, and the motions were exactly like Guzub's except that he himself was the shaker. He poured the liquids into his maw, joggled about, and then poured them out of a hollow hoselike tentacle."
Via Monsieur; thanks to Winchell Chung (be sure to check out his amazingly detailed Atomic Rocketships page) for the tip on this story.
