Evidence by Isaac Asimov:
Science Fiction Inventions, Technology and Ideas
"You know, it would be mighty hard to get evidence that a robot claiming it was a man, was not. As a man, he'd have rights of privacy, and until you proved otherwise - "
A lawyer is severely injured; after a time he runs for mayor. But the question arises; is this the real Stephen Byerley, or an android robot indistinguishable from a person? Robopsychologist Susan Calvin involves herself, trying to devise a test to determine his humanity.
