Cordwainer Smith:
Science Fiction Technology and Ideas
Pseudonym used by Paul Myron Anthony Linebarger (1913-1966) for science fiction works. Through his father, a lawyer and political activist, he knew Sun Yat-sen, the father of Chinese nationalism. By adulthood, he could speak six languages and received a Ph.D. in Political Science from Johns Hopkins University at the age of 23. He served in the US Army during WWII, where he helped create the Office of War Information, and helped organize the Army's first psychological warfare section. His science fiction writings comprise only one novel and about thirty short stories.
