"Every time I see one of these things I flash back to the Microwave Power Station from Sim City 2000. Works the same way. The warning is what sticks in my head: "The effects of a misguided beam are as yet unknown.""

"About twenty years ago I read a story about the use of this idea (I can't remember the title or author). The beam came down into a sort of crater or receptacle. The receptacle was surrounded with a kind of zone or moat that would detect even the slightest deviation of the beam. If the beam crossed the safety zone, it would shut down the satellite. Of course, this would be a fantastically dangerous technology that would be easy to weaponize."
