Comments on InTouch Companion: Medical Rounding Robot
InTouch Health is now leasing a remote-controlled telepresence robot called The Companion to hospitals and nursing homes nationwide. The 200 pound robots stand about five feet tall and have computer screens for "heads." (Read the complete story)

"Wonderfull"
(Tojo Thomas 5/12/2004 3:38:06 AM)
"With air travel becoming a pain, can I use a Rounds Robot to attend conferences and meetings instead of hours locked in an airplane? Attending meetings by videoconfernce lose the "touch" gained by informal interface between sessions. Attending via networked robot would make much better use of my time but still allow me to "face time" with peers. Imagine being able to conduct walk-around meetings in several locations on a single day!"
(Larry 2/11/2005 6:57:32 PM)
"what are the proven of themedical rounding robot."

"this is so cool i cant wait until there is a robo-doc in my hospital"
( 12/13/2006 12:25:21 PM)
"This is BS. Make medical training more and more onerous until there is a severe doctor shortage, and then pay doctors for 'seeing' patients through a video camera so they don't even have to show up in person."
(we are the lords of life and death 8/22/2009 10:33:04 AM)
"Actually, I've just heard that the residents at the University of Michigan hospital are actually seeing a CUT in the maximum hours they can work. Down from 80 to a mere 60."
(Bill Christensen 8/22/2009 10:57:10 AM)
