Can a robot benefit from performing a devotional task? (Read
the complete story)
"The story attribution is incorrect. Asimov wrote "Reason" not "The Nine Billion Names of God". Both have very similar aspects. It can be found in the collection "I, Robot". In it, a semi-sentient robot becomes a latter-day Descarte & convinces itself that it is the one true servant of the one true machine intelligence that runs the Universe. When the 2 humans on board the same space station are unable to unconvince the robot, they return to Earth, disgruntled. It's a story about circular reasoning. "

"One more - "The Nine Billion Names of God" was written by Arthur C. Clarke. I think you've quoted it accurately. "

"I can't believe I did that. There are attributes to each article that are invisible to you, the reader; in those attributes, I correctly listed Clarke as the author.
I may not have an editor, but thankfully, I do have critical readers. Thanks Jeff."

""an early Arthur C. Clarke story from the 1050's."

"Uh... sure, just before the First Crusade...
I'm beginning to think that I just should have kept on sleeping this morning...
Thanks PG."
