Comments on 75 Percent Of Americans Prefer Paper Books!
'The books were crystals with recorded contents.'- Stanislaw Lem, 1961. (Read the complete story)

"Put me down for kindle books - I'd rather shop on Amazon, where I can see which books are obvious losers on the rating system."

"Personally, I prefer real paper books. Especially the older pulp paperbacks. But I concede the ease of finding stuff online, and the sheer quantity of stuff available. (I read a lot of fanfic, so do a lot of reading on the computer)"

"Ashley, I hadn't thought about the volume of self-published material that is available on the Internet. I've written books that were then distributed by publishers, and so I have some ability to access that kind of distribution. I wonder what percentage of novels, stories and articles that are read are by non-professionals (i.e., not paid) writers?"
(Bill Christensen 7/24/2013 7:48:42 AM)
"And while there's an immense amount that's not worth the effort to read, there's still some that is worth the effort, and it's not a small quantity, either. One fanfic author I follow wrote over 100k words of fanfic in just over a week. Another I've read wrote over a million words in a single fanfic (unfortunately, that one appears to be dead, so it looks like it'll never be finished). And fanfic isn't the only thing out there, either. Things like Baen's Free Library and their CD's allow me to read the stories again without having to carry the actual physical book with me everywhere. (tho I keep them at home so I can read the physical copy when I don't have to carry it)"

"Love to hold a book in my hand, too bad so many book stores are going out of business. Maybe they could offer the e-version with the purchase of the paper version. win/win."
