Comments on Animaris Percipiere: Walking Robotic Sculpture Stores Wind Energy
Huge clockwork automata beasts roaming the beaches - they live on wind power. (Read
the complete story)
"It looks good, but what use will it be?"

"Jansen really is trying to create autonomous machines that roam the landscape in a natural fashion, using wind for "food" (that is, power).
There is a lot of research going on right now regarding autonomous machines that can (for example) fly over a particular region for months at a time, either for surveillance or as part of a communications grid. There are porpoise-like autonomous diving robots that are being made to keep tabs on the ecology of the open ocean.
This guy is obviously more of an artist, but all of this development is heading in the same direction."

"I see. The human race seems more brilliant every day."

"the beauty, and engineering of this, this uncredible monstrosity has awakened the need to create.
