Sky-Terra Towers Blot Out Sky
The Sky-Terra towers envisioned by San Francisco-based designer Joanna Borek-Clement sound pretty good at the outset.
Imagine a network of interconnected towers that are inspired by the shape of neurons - very cool so far. This vast superstructure, built at a height of 1600 feet, provides a new layer for the city, with all manner of appurtenances for the upper classes.

However, I find myself wondering what happens to the people down below in this scenario.
In Asimov's The Currents of Space, the underclass live underneath the huge platform the city is built on. Only small bits of sunlight penetrate that far.
This can also be found in the old comic book series MAGNUS ROBOT FIGHTER, where the rich people live above and the ghetto is at the roots. The rich are called "cloud-cloddies" and the poor are called "gophs" (for gopher)
