Our GodBot, Who Art In Cyberspace

Not content with merely being ruled by implacable artificial intelligences, Anthony Levandowski wishes to worship them as well.

In September 2015, the multi-millionaire engineer at the heart of the trade secrets lawsuit between Uber and Waymo, Google’s self-driving car company, founded a religious organization called Way of the Future. Its purpose, according to previously unreported state filings, is nothing less than to “develop and promote the realization of a Godhead based on Artificial Intelligence.”

I can't wait.

There are lots of worshipful human(oids) ready to get down on their knees before silicon; I always liked the people of Vaal, from The Apple a classic Star Trek TOS episode. Skip to 2:00 for Vaal, who hungers! We must serve him.

I'd rather worship science and reason, and for that we have the Atheon Temple To Science Open For Worship.

I suddenly realized that the Ghostrider robot motorcycle was one of the projects that Levandowski worked on.

Thanks to Palmer Eldritch for bringing this story to our attention. Via Wired, which is a surprisingly detailed article well worth reading by those who are fascinated by entrepreneurs and technology.
