Siemens PenPhone Watches While You Write
The Siemens PenPhone cellphone has an unusual text-entry interface. The PenPhone has an integrated handwriting recognition facility; the device will interpret hand movements during the act of writing and translate them directly into SMS. The device is a standard tri-band cellphone with all of the usual features.
There have been some reports of repetitive stress injuries with the increasingly popular thumb keyboards on mobile phones; maybe writer's cramp will make a comeback.
At present, it is not yet certain whether or not the PenPhone will go into production.
Science fiction fans may recall transmit paper from Frank Herbert's 1972 novel The Godmakers. In this version, it is the paper that captures the text and transmits the information all in one step.
