Via Virtual Reality, Mother Encounters Deceased Daughter
Would you want to experience seeing someone special to you who had died? This possibility was presented to Jang Ji-sung, mother of four children, one of whom contracted a rare, incurable disease.
The production team is the best of the world's best VR (Virtual Reality), VFX (Special Movie) technology. The collaboration started with implementation. Nayeon in VR (Virtual Reality). In order to get close, family interviews and pictures and videos.
An analysis of the various expressions, voices, tones and distinctive gestures was required. Based on this process Long CG work continued with motion capture technology to capture momentary motion.
The goal of this project is to create 'good memories'. Take advantage of your mother's memory. Nayeon's favorite clothes and shoes were embodied as the background. Nayeon's memories were set to remain.
For more realistic immersion It also includes elements that characters in virtual reality can interact with. Holding or handing Nayeon's voice is implemented so that she can receive goods and have a conversation with her.

The task of implementing virtual reality was not as easy as it might seem.
Science fiction fans will probably think of Saga from The City and the Stars (1956) by Arthur C. Clarke and perhaps the Dream Console from The Dream Master (1966) by Roger Zelazny.
But the reference that I recall is from Flood, a 2008 novel by Stephen Baxter. He writes about a virtual reality world called Headspace. Using virtual reality technology, including haptic feedback, a woman has the experience of having a child of her own:
Little Linda, a Headspace baby, was four years old now... The little girl playing on the sunlit patio still made a beautiful image for Maria to gaze upon, in her desktop screen, in her damp, darkened flat....Everything Linda knew Maria had taught her. Maria had gloves and a headset, and she would hear the child laugh, fell her when her avatar hugged her, a ghostly presence through the pads on her fingertips. She still couldn't be with the child, not fully...
But that barrier was going to melt away someday soon. The transhumanists had promised...
