SETI Suggests Prospecting The Solar System Without Landing

The SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Institute has suggested that it might be possible to use a spacecraft to survey minerals on the Moon and on asteroids without the need to land.

SETI Institute scientist Dr. Pablo Sobron is exploring this possibility through a NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) study that combines laser spectroscopy with interplanetary flybys.

Join Dr. Sobron and host Dr. Simon Steel TODAY at 2:30 pm PST for SETI Live as they discuss how this technology could transform the way we explore resources across the Solar System.

The reference is from the celebrated Buck Rogers, 2430 AD comic strip, published from 1929 to 1931 by Philip Nowlan (w/D. Calkins) - learn more about the Reflectocosmic Spectrometer.
