According to the openai website:

It’s also great for group decisions, like finding a restaurant that fits everyone’s tastes or settling a friendly debate with an impartial referee.
Not only was this anticipated by science fiction writers, you might be able to see where openai is going with this. Here's an excerpt from Cities in Flight (1957) by James Blish:
Group chats make it possible to bring people, and ChatGPT, into the same conversation. For example, if you’re planning a weekend trip with friends, create a group chat so ChatGPT can help compare destinations, build an itinerary, and create a packing list with everyone participating and following along.
