Alan Edward Nourse (b. 1928 - d. 1992) was an American science fiction writer. He wrote sf for both the juvenile and adult markets; he sometimes used the pen names Al Edwards and Doctor X.

He served in the US Navy following WWII; he earned a Bachelor of Science degree on his way to becoming a medical doctor.
