Comments on Church of Fools: The Coming Of The Avatar?
The Church of Fools, an experiment in online, interactive worship, will open its virtual doors this coming May 11th. The service will be lead by real priests or pastors who appear as "avatars." (Read
the complete story)
"this is awesome - but sad. I see such a viability here for those who aren't social - but I also see yet another way for love to become impersonal. Still, as Paul said, "let me be all things to all people so long as it causes me not to enter into sin". God bless this ministry."

"seems very interesting,we'll have to wait and see, then we will know ."

"Stephenson cites Chip Morningstar and Randall Farmer's work on the graphical chat environment Habitat (http://www.fudco.com/habitat/) as being the first instance of the use of the term "avatar" to mean "a visual representation of a user within a virtual environment" in 1985.
He maintains that he came up with it on his own though, independently of its earlier usage."
