Comments on Klimatec AirWater Machine Good News For Moisture Farmers
This device lets you get fresh water anywhere; at last, an office water cooler that never needs restocking. (Read
the complete story)
"Nice machine. But how much does it cost? I went to the website, and it didn't have any pricing information."
(Robert 7/9/2008 8:02:59 AM) |
"Robert, good question. They have a lot of info on their site, but no pricing information."
(Bill Christensen 7/9/2008 8:29:42 AM) |
"I wonder if it also functions as a defacto de-humidifier?"
(Zac Hunter 7/9/2008 2:16:32 PM) |
"Attention ! This device is PURE EVIL !!!
I've done the numbers once for a similar device which had a glowing review in the newspaper.
The numbers are shocking ...
If you get the electricity for the device from fossil fuel, you'll be pumping out 0.7kg of CO2 per liter of water produced. That device ("aquamaker") consumes 650 Watts, which on a yearly basis is 5 tons of CO2, same as driving 12,000 kilometers in a family sedan."
(Yossi Preminger 7/9/2008 3:20:33 PM) |
"So for those of us on hydro or nuclear, this looks really good. Especially when you're living in a subtropical region."
(Fortigurn 7/9/2008 9:56:52 PM) |
"A dehumidifier is exactly what it is - albeit a more efficient and sanitary system than the old GE in the basement. But given the climes most desperate for water, would you really *need* drier air?"
(Joe the Rat 7/10/2008 9:55:17 AM) |
