Don't Want To Wear A TIght Shiny Bodysuit?
Yes, you like science fiction, but you're not too happy about the future of fashion in sf, which seems to lean toward tight and shiny clothing? You're in good company.
This aesthetic has been present for a long time in the works of science fiction writers. For example, in "Waldo", a 1942 story by Robert Heinlein, an older physician is described as wearing "business tights":

The quote is from Waldo, a classic Robert Heinlein tale from 1942.
"He was dressed... in conventional business tights in blue and sable. It was not a style that suited him... He looked a good bit like an elderly, fat beetle."
