"The backdrop for the first part of Lem's "Fiasco" is a bureaucratic rivalry between two spaceports of Saturn's moon Titan. One of the officials on Titan remarks that "The mess that obtains in space equals that on Earth.""

"These carp were used as bottom feeders on catfish farms. I thought catfish WERE bottom feeders."

"Based on Internet research (ahem) it appears that there are at least 8 species that fall under the category of Asian carp. At least one species has been here since 1831. Silver carp grow to 40 pounds; they can jump 8-10 feet out of the water. They are easily startled and have caused innumerable injuries to boaters. Silver carp are also filter-feeders, removing nutrients from the water and are useless for fishing. They outcompete native species. Other species uproot vegetation as they scrounge along the bottom for food, destroying habitat for native fish."
