Comments on Cosmos 1 Sets Solar Sail - Update
Cosmos 1, the world's first solar sail spacecraft, is scheduled to be launched on March 1, 2005 - Car Sagan's birthday. The mission of the flight is to perform the first controlled solar sail flight. (Read the complete story)

"This article has at least one fact wrong. March 1st is *NOT* Carl Sagan's birthday. He was born in November of 1934
(Brad - the rest of the Internet agrees with you; I removed the reference from the article. I got that "fact" from one of the reference stories; but I'm still responsible for the error appearing on my site. Thanks for writing!

"Too bad it never completely got off the ground. You would think a space research institute would have reliable timing circuits."

"The first thing that came to mind when I heard that the Russians had built the sail craft was that it would fail. This is not a bias comment but as I recall everything they built for the space station had to be fixed. They are not team players and they to this date get more than they deserve out of every endeavor we associate ourselves with them. Example: We pay for the construction of the Space Station and they have cost overruns and delays doing it only to screw up what they were given to do. They have sent tourists up which could compromise the very existance of the station and profit from doing so."
