The eerie robotic Philip K. Dick unveiled today at the NextFest 2005 event in Chicago is almost an objectification of Dick's fascination with what really makes people human. (Read the complete story)

"Can the apparent future replicant,s be able to replace our soldiers someday to prevent loss of human life in the most dangerous of areas ? Will they be possibly be mass produced for different functions heavy manual labor ?Security?teaching?mining on other planet,s ?If we can keep the advancement controlled to the degree that these replicant robots follow human commands alway,s without them becoming so advanced that emotion memory and anything too human except for what we desire from them than the world could be such a fantastic era to be able to send human robot replicant,s into areas of immense danger the saving of human life could be astronomical and i commend this project with my applause for human life as any life is sacred compared to humanic replicant,s built for specific functions !Wonderful world this project should have full backing of all world nations finance it must be continued at all cost,s !Thankyou Danke Hoffa"

"people are dumb. we can already build robots that can replace soldiers, do "the heavy lifting" and other assorted hazardous jobs. these folks are doing something different in that they are trying to design a robot that YOU cant tell is a robot. the implictions of this research has ramifications beyond a 1970s scifi-novel utopia. like fire, knives, or a crescent wrench, they are only as helpful/destructive as the person using it."
