Palette Super Model Robot
Take a look at this video of a robotic mannequin in a window display modeling fashions designed by Japan’s veteran designer Hanae Mori.
The Palette robot can detect human movements in the crowd of viewers and react. It can strike poses that have been computer-captured from the best of human fashion models and show off fashions in a manner specified by designers, for their maximum benefit.
SF fans may also recall a this story by Fritz Leiber. In his 1954 story The Mechanical Bride, he writes
Each one is powered by thirty-seven midget electric motors, all completely noiseless, and is controlled by instructions, recorded on magnetic tape, which are triggered off by the sound of your voice and no one else's. There is a built-in microphone that hears everything you say...
