Ulm Sleep Pods For The Homeless

The people of the city of Ulm, Germany have been building safe places for homeless people to sleep.

The closest thing to this idea in science fiction is the the napcap rental facility from Saturn's Race by Larry Niven.

As far as I know, the first use of the phrase "sleep pod" in science fiction is from Mantis (1967) by Chris Boyce.
