This is a very early description of voice recognition, the first I know of for opening doors.
Compare to the robot door from Colony by Philip K Dick (1953), the self-satisfied door from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams (1980) and the Mark IV Door Keeping Robot from The Man Who Could Not Stop by A.
