'Police POV' Uses On-Officer Cameras
Police POV is a new series from truTV that uses a special camera system that can be worn by police officers. This device will allow television viewers to experience police work at first-hand, during "every chase, shootout, takedown or confrontation as they patrol the streets of America’s cities."

Science fiction movie fans may recall the very similar cameras used by the Colonial marines in the 1986 movie Aliens.

SF fans may also recall the True-Vu lenses from David Brin's 1990 novel Earth.
Similar themes were explored in the 1995 film Strange Days. In the film, the SQUID (Super-conducting Quantum Interference Device ) receptor rig recorded not just video; it was able to record your complete sensory experience.

The series is slated to premiere on truTV Sunday, April 17, at 10 p.m. (ET/PT).
