SHOW Lensless PicoP Projector World's Smallest
The SNOW lensless PicoP projector will be available later this year, according to Microvision. A full functioning, self-contained prototype is now being demonstrated.

The tiny device (no bigger than the iPods that can provide content) can shoot a WVGA (848x480) image onto virtually any smooth, light-colored surface. Three colored lasers can project a five-foot diagonal image from five feet away.
"It's a great for-use mode when it comes to spontaneously sharing content with your friends," said Russell Hannigan, Microvision's Director of Product Management for Consumer Projection Displays.
The SHOW is described as being fully plug-and-play with any video-out devices, including your laptop or iPod - and even some cell phones. The SHOW is expected to sell for between $200 and $300; battery life should exceed two hours.
Science fiction fans have been waiting a while for this one. In his 1971 novel The Anome, SF Grandmaster Jack Vance described a very nifty pocket display projector:
Ifness drew from his pocket a tube of dull black metal an inch in diameter, four inches long. Along the flattened top a number of knobs caught the light and glittered in Ifness' hand. He made an adjustment, pointed the tube at the wall beside Etzwane, and projected a cone of light.Etzwane had never seen a photograph so detailed.
