Walk-In Cocktail Available In London

The first walk-in cocktail is currently being provided by the Alcoholic Architecture pub in London. The idea is that the very atmosphere of the pub itself is the drink - as it happens, a gin-and-tonic mist. Patrons are asked to don plastic coats.

(Alcoholic Architecture walk-in cocktail)

"Forty minutes in here apparently equates to drinking one gin and tonic, although the knowing injunction to "breathe responsibly" suggests that were you to adopt a greedier, gulpier approach to inhalation, you might feel like you'd had quite a few more. Perhaps this explains the St John Ambulance representative waiting glumly at the top of the stairs.

"A genteel-sounding gin-and-tonic "mist" is what's promised, but it's actually more of a dense fog that makes seeing beyond a few inches impossible. A single, green-tinged light bulb (presumably to signify a squeeze of lime) does little to stop people bumping into each other.

"With no sentient ice cubes able to confirm it, one can only assume that this is what the inside of a G and T feels like."

This reminds me of the special conditions enjoyed by Guild Ambassadors in Dune Messiah, Frank Herbert's 1969 sequel to Dune. Keep in mind that Guild Navigators are human beings; they choose to take the spice melange. Breathing it as a very fine mist is the preferred method for Guildsmen to ensure a properly high dosage.

Scytale looked at the Guild envoy. Edric swam in a container of orange gas only a few paces away... The Guildsman was an elongated figure, vaguely humanoid, with finned feet and hugely fanned membranous hands - a fish in a strange sea. His tank's vents emitted a pale orange cloud rich with the smell of the geriatric spice, melange.

I'm sure readers can think of their favorite alien drink styles, but this is a pretty close match to the walk-in cocktail.
