Tweet Your Prayers To Jerusalem's Western Wall

Jews around the world can now tweet their prayers to Jerusalem's Western Wall. The Tweet Your Prayers site personnel will print out your tweets and then insert them between the stones of the Kotel.

(Jerusalem's Western Wall - the Kotel)

The Western Wall, sometimes called the Wailing Wall or the Kotel (from the Hebrew word for wall), is an important religious site in the Old City portion of Jerusalem. Jews venerate the wall as the sole remnant of the Holy Temple. The practice of placing a paper prayer in the cracks of the wall is about 250 years old.

The Terms of Service for the Tweet Your Prayers site has some interesting provisions.

"There is absolutely no guarantee if, when and how your prayers will be answered."

"...we are also committed to the sanctity of the Wall, and thus perform an initial screening of the tweets, so we won’t mistakenly print and store tweets that are spam, hateful or inappropriate in any way."

Science fiction writers have long written about the uses of technology in religious practice. For examples, read more about the philosophical robass from Anthony Boucher's 1951 story The Quest for Saint Aquin, the robot pope from Robert Silverberg's 1971 novel Good News From the Vatican and Philip K. Dick's padre booth from his 1969 novel Galactic Pot-Healer
