Stretchable Silicon Electronics For Sports Apparel
MC10 is working with Reebok to put stretchable silicon electronics into an athlete's wearable gear. ""We want to bring more information to the athlete, using the [conformable electronics] technology in a way that makes the electronics invisible to the user," says Paul Litchfield, head of Reebok Advanced Concepts."
The athletic-apparel devices might incorporate sensors and a microprocessor to monitor many indicators of an athlete's health, such as impacts on the body, electrical information from the heart and nervous system, sweat pH, blood pressure, gait, and strain on joints. Such devices could process the data to generate information about metabolism and athletic performance and broadcast it to another device.

( mc10's conformal electronics technology )
Conventional integrated circuits (ICs) are rigid, brittle and planar [while] flexible, organic electronics lack performance and reliability. The solution? Enable high performance ICs to stretch, twist, expand, and deploy, making breakthrough products and applications.
mc10 technology uses conventional, high performance (>GHz) semiconductors in conjunction with a proprietary interconnect and packaging technology to produce high yield, low cost, conformal electronics. All of our materials and processes are compatible with industry standard CMOS production facilities.
MC10 says the products could be out within a year or two.
Fans of Larry Niven and Steven Barnes, take heart: you've been waiting a long time (almost thirty years) for your sleeve watch from Dream Park, but we're almost there.
Alex rolled his wrist over to check the watch imprinted on his sleeve. (Expensive indulgence. Even dry-cleaning eventually messed up the printed circuitry.)
See also this article that shows how OLEDs Can Be Connected In A Stretchable Display to complete your watch.
