Thor Shield Energy Weapon-Proof Fabric

Thor Shield Energy Weapon Protection Fabric forms a "passive layer" (clothing lining) that can provide protection from various non-lethal energy weapons. The intent is to sell Thor Shield only to military and law enforcement agencies.

(Thor Shield Energy Weapon Protection Fabric)

G2 Consulting claims that Thor Shield is "100 percent effective against all non-lethal energy weapons on the market today." This includes Tasers, stun guns and cattle prods. The fabric has been tested with stun products up to 900,000 volts. It can be integrated into jackets or other apparel, body armor, caps and gloves.

Thor Shield is a polyester fabric bonded to a conductive material that loops electricity from an energy weapon back to the source. The conductive layer completes the circuit without involving the body of the wearer.

This material would allow police agencies and military personnel to protect themselves from stun technology that is available to the public. There have also been incidents in which criminal suspects have overcome officers by taking their stun weapons and turning them on their owners.

Homeland Security has a continuing interest in stun weapons; take a look at the Inertial incapacitave capacitor, the Piezer and the Lynntech non-lethal weapon. If your interest runs to different armor strategies, take a look at Transparent Aluminum Armor and Liquid Armor.

Update 08-Feb-2008: Point Blank has teamed up exclusively with G² Consulting, architect of ThorShield and other electroshock weapon protection solutions, to integrate this technology into Point Blank Body Armor and PACA body armor products. Here's a nice Thor Shield demonstration video with anti-taser shirts, hats, gloves - you name it.

End first update.

Update 07-May-2008: I found a good match for this one; in his 1954 short story The Golden Man, Philip K. Dick very clearly describes a suit-shield fabric. End second update.

Read more about the Thor Shield (and take a look at the Thor Shield demo video); thanks to reader Jonathan Bearce for the tip on this story.
