Toshiba Interactive 3D Display Video At SEATAC 2006
Toshiba's Interactive 3D Display made an appearance at the CEATEC2006 conference, an exhibition that ran from October 2nd through October 6th, 2006 in Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture, Japan.

I think that this is a different device than was exhibited a year ago. The video shown below clearly demonstrates its interactive features.
(Toshiba 3D Flatbed video )
It employs an integral imaging system that reproduces light beams similar of those produced by a real object, not its visual representation. This overcomes the main problem with a flatbed display: distance. The difference in the distance from the eye to the center of a display, and from the eye to the display's edges and corners, is greater for a flatbed display than for a standard upright display.
Science fiction fans of course remember the 1977 film Star Wars , which has a famous scene in which R2D2 and Chewbacca are playing a chess-like game with projected pieces :
(Let the Wookie win)
Thanks to Akira Morishita who wrote in with the video link. I couldn't find any definitive information on this year's device - anyone?
