"If I had to get a new Ph.D. now, I'd get it in polymer engineering - the manipulation of matter."
- Bart Kosko

Interactive Video Column
A video display in a chain convenience store that shows random scenes from other stores in the chain around the world.

I don't see why this would be difficult to do, particularly with a cable or DSL internet connection costing ~$40 per month. It would reinforce your global brand identity, and give everyone a chance to see and be seen.

There were Lucky Dragons all over America, all over the world for that matter, and to prove it you had your trademark Lucky Dragon Global Interactive Video Column outside. You had to pass it entering and leaving the store, so you'd see whichever dozen Lucky Dragons franchise [it] happened to be linked with at that particular moment: Paris or Houston or Brazzaville, wherever.

I want to know why there is no Convenience Store Cable Channel. We have the bandwidth; why can't I just endlessly people-watch from the comfort of my den?

Compare to this uniquely insightful idea from Ray Cummings in his 1932 story Wandl, The Invader - the Mirror Grid Multiple-View Surveillance Panel.
