In the series by Jack McDevitt starring Priscilla "Hutch" Hutchins in the 2200's, the e-suit is used for planetary exploration. We'll still be using spacesuits for a while yet.

"They were flexible force envelopes," she said, that molded themselves to the body, and which felt rather like a loose-fitting set of cotton clothes. The exception was the hard shell effect over the face, allowing space to breathe. ...
