Boris Zhitkov

Boris Stepanovich Zhitkov (Бори́с Степа́нович Житко́в b.1882 — d. 1938) was a Russian author born in Novgorod. His fiction is enlivened by his many life experiences; he was a common sailor and eventually a ship's captain, a scientist, an explorer, a metal worker, a ship building engineer and physics teacher.
