J. Frederick Arment is a full-time writer who winters off the coast of Florida in the sailboat Serenata and summers with his family in the village of Yellow Springs, Ohio. After a successful career in technical, scientific, and marketing writing, Arment enjoys and appreciates the freedom to research the background for his indepth novels, including the detailed study of physics required for his latest book, Backbeat: A Novel of Physics.

Arment holds a bachelor's degree from Wright State University in history education and a masters of humanities with emphasis on the French and American Enlightenment periods.
