James Schmitz:

James Henry Schmitz (1911-1981) was born in Hamburg, Germany of American parents. He lived in Germany until 1938, but left before WWII started. He served as an aerial photographer in the Pacific. He published his first story in 1943 and kept writing through the seventies.
