Elwyn Brooks White (b. 1899 - d. 1985) was an American author, humorist and poet. Born in Mount Vernon, NY, he graduated from Cornell in 1921. He wrote widely for news publications, including The Seattle Times and The New Yorker.
He is best known for his excellent children's books (in particular Charlotte's Web and Stuart Little), as well as The Elements of Style, a guide to writing.
