G. Peyton Wertenbaker

Green Peyton Wertenbaker (b. 1907 - d. 1968) was an American writer and editor, one of the pioneers of Hugo Gernsback's development of Scientifiction. Wertenbaker came from a literary and professional family (his father was a physician and later obstetrician; his brother Charles became a renowned journalist; his niece is the noted playwright Timberlake Wertenbaker) and was descended from one of Virginia's oldest families. His first story, written when he was still fifteen, "The Man from the Atom" (August 1923 Science and Invention) appeared in the special "scientifiction" issue of Gernsback's premier science magazine. He wrote only a few sf stories, the last in 1930.
