Parlor Wall (TV Parlor)

The original "big screen TV" takes up an entire wall of a room. (Read the full article)

"I think that the four-wall TV parlor is a horrible idea. This is the reason why I thought that Mildred (Montag's wife) was a robot at the beginning of the book. She was so electronic. I mean, she refered to the parlor as her family and did nothing but stay in the parlor or listen to music on her seashells. I think that is sick. But, that is what the world is coming to now. We are more wound up with technology than we are with friends."

"Wall TV was mentioned in Ralph 124C41+:1911 They saw a play on a wall full of telephots. However--Virtual Reality is mentioned in Bradbury's "The Velt"
(Right - see Ray Bradbury's The Veldt for details. Bill)"
(Penny 1/24/2006 5:20:02 PM )
"More then a TV, Bradbury's description is similar to a virtual reality setup called a CAVE (Cave Virtual Automatic Environment). A CAVE is a room with several walls and occasionally the floor and ceiling displaying a virtual world. "I'm actually having a full 4 wall done, with ceiling and floor as well. Voice activation was a must, and the sound system lays behind the walls. I plan to visit just about everywhere in that room =)"
