Biometric Sample
Information or computer data obtained from a biometric sensor
device. Examples are images of a face or fingerprint.
Users of biometric identification systems sometimes refer to an "attempt" when talking about gathering a sample. In this context, "attempt" just refers to the submission of a single set of biometric sample to a biometric system for identification or verification. For security reasons, some biometric systems will not permit more than one attempt to identify or verify an individual. Others are more forgiving.
