"I invented a similar device in 1999 for my story "Kontakt? - Das Geheimnis von Phobos" (Contact? - The Secret of Phobos) which took place in the year 2024 AD. I called it Dermosol, which is also a Dermal Regenerator Spray. I took the idea from an article about the development of a skin cell plaster that I read in the 1990s, but sprays are anyway much better and need less space in the first-aid-kit.
