PyrE
A thermonuclear explosive that is detonated by thought alone. (Read

"The next time the President says he wants go outside and clear his head.......well just think about it?"

"I've always thought that PyrE would be very hard to work with in the lab. What if you just kinda think about it going off later at some indefinite time? Does it fizzle a bit right then? Does it go off later? Suppose a dog looks at a hunk of PyrE and canine-thinks about it in association with an explosion, would that set it off? If 2 people stared at a bar of it, one willing it to go off and the other desperately willing it not to, what would happen? Suppose someone thought about it without willing it to go off, but their id had a strong unconscious deathwish, would that set it off? Hmmm. "

"i love the naming scheme in the book, the nobility of corporations, lol. since having read stars my destination, every other piece of scifi seems to be lacking in some way."

"to sryan,
the fact that the chick is the one that they have to get to send the detonation thought-signal, means that it probably has to be just conscious thought. if they have to get a one way telepath, like they can focus their mental energy entirely at one object, then that probably means PyrE can only be ignited through a very intentional, motivated thought process."
