"Here I am in 2009 just reading for the first time the novel Hyperion by Dan Simmons. I have been doing what I call "active reading". I keep a running log of characters, places, and a vocabulary list. I have learned so much by stopping to look things up. I have also learned a lot more about how to use the Internet to achieve my goal. I was really happy to see so much about this book, and really surprised to see that someone else had taken the time to do basically what I am doing, though a decade earlier. OH well. I doubt that anyone will ever read this "comment", but if you do: greetings from a person who, though 58 and retired, still loves learning (more than ever)."

"Mike, sounds like fun to me; one of the things that I like about doing the site is rereading older books and stories and discovering gems that I missed when they came out. If you have any items that I missed, or corrections and additions to existing items, please enter them in comments or in the contact page. Have fun!"
