Comments on LED Incapacitator And The Minority Report Game
A bit of reader help on this one, if possible. (Read the complete story)

"the Puke stick appears in the Movie, and it seems to be more of a electronic impulse kind of device; sending signals through direct contact. Disorientating and disabling strobe lighting is used as a weapon in Jamie Delano's (comic book writer)2020 visions, the "renegade" arc I believe. The tribes living in the wastelands use it against the patrols from the baronial landsteads. Don't know if thats of any help. I think it's appeared in 2000ad a few times in the Judge stories, and maybe The Forever series by Joe Haldeman."

"Will - Thanks for writing. I'm going to have to watch the movie again and maybe put up a screenshot."
(Bill Christensen 8/15/2007 6:44:26 PM)
"I believe the movie _Looker_ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082677/) has a similar device."
(Indiana Joe 8/16/2007 7:18:09 PM)
"The light gun from Looker had the same basic function (incapacitation), but did it though a strobe-hypnotic effect: You were basically "off" - and unaware of the passage of time until the effect wore off, or if something broke your trance - such as physical contact."
(Joe the Rat 8/17/2007 6:30:19 AM)
"Nice waste of my tax dollars one it likely does not work very well. I messed with far more powerful stroboscopic devices and didn't get anything more then a headache. Nice to see my tax dollars getting wasted on a flashlight thats $20 of ebay LEDs and a $2 micro controller. Yes you can make this at home for $40 if you wish."
(Membrane 8/18/2007 11:18:35 AM)
"I don't know jack about this, but I assume that the device works on specific frequencies (or groups of frequencies) that have more of an effect, that you probably never achieved?"
(Will 8/20/2007 4:17:14 PM)
"Some of the more advanced tactical lights already offer a similar tool, in close quarter situation these pulsating lights do cause disorientation and pretty much remove peripheral vision."
( 8/22/2007 4:44:50 AM)
"Take a look at the book or the film the Andromeda Strain as well. it actually cause's an epileptic fit or seizure by flashing the lights at a speed that the brain do's not like at all about the speed of a rotating ambulance or fire engine light I think."
(Christopher Thomas 8/22/2007 9:20:54 PM)
"Once upon a time back in the dark ages when airplanes only had one engine and the propeller was directly in front of the pilot, people crashed. It was found that the flickering light through the prop could cause a problem when the frequency hit the alpha rhythm. Red light was really evil here, so that when pilots would blink; the light through the eyelids (turning red) would complete the damage. So, landing lights are now blue and those of us that have really fast reflexes sometimes wear green glasses. The alpha rhythm varies between 8 to 12 cps (hz) and back in the 50's it was a wider range (the internet makes us slow). So your flashlight (used by the British police 20 years ago) has to vary over that range. There is no magic frequency. "
(icecycle 8/28/2007 11:34:41 PM)
"A light weapon was used in a tom clancy book as well.. "
