Comments on Meteorite Brings Illness To Peruvian Village
A strange incident in Peru this past weekend has readers thinking about The Andromeda Strain. (Read the complete story)

"Slashdotters are quick to announce all sorts of exotic explanations when the most likely and plausible explanation is "mass psychogenic illness". http://bjp.rcpsych.org/cgi/content/full/180/4/300 "

"well, I was going to mention The Color Out of Space, but they've already done so......ia"
( 9/25/2007 12:34:48 PM)
"The Color Out of Space was also made into a movie with the great Boris Karloff.

(Nothing unusual about this old man...)
"
(Bill Christensen 9/26/2007 9:07:43 AM)
"Yossi - there probably was some element of mass hysteria. However, the meteorite scattered debris many hundreds of feet (and onto houses hundreds of feet away). So it's possible that a great many people were exposed to arsenic-laden water vapor, which was later identified as the cause of the 'sickness.' See Peruvian Meteor Sickness Diagnosed."
