Imagine about a half-dozen pool table-sized machines lined up; you start grabbing checks or other flimsy documents and then you shoot them past an optical character recognition scanner at about 25 feet per second. Before the document has gone more than a couple of feet, you've determined what it is and decided what to print on it.
